Impact of Rehabilitation Support for Torture Survivors in Kenya and Lebanon

Register now

Torture and ill-treatment continue to exist—and even increase—in many parts of the world. Survivors of torture and their relatives often face significant barriers in accessing their right to rehabilitation. But what exactly is the right to rehabilitation, why is it important, and how can it be ensured? In this session, we will explore the impact of rehabilitation efforts and the importance of supporting civil actors and human rights defenders who fight for this right. Focusing on the cases of Kenya and Lebanon, two civil society organizations fighting extensively torture will share the rehabilitation needs of torture survivors in their countries, as well as the outcomes of their rehabilitation activities in collaboration with IRCT.
