Strengthening African Women’s Leadership in the Fight Against Torture and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence

African women leadership against torture is an SOS-Torture initiative created in 2022, aiming at putting together all women of the network that lead the fight against torture in Africa.
On the occasion of the Global Week Against Torture, an online interactive webinar of the African Women Leadership Against Torture initiative is organised to share personal experiences, best practices and gender-specific challenges faced by women human rights defenders, and discuss the importance of women leadership in the anti-torture movement and what is needed to sustain and strengthen it. This webinar serves as the first concrete step in the process of building the "African Women’s Leadership Against Torture" network. It marks the beginning of a collective dynamic aimed at strengthening connections among women human rights defenders across the continent.
